The first "Haida" tattoo I started with was a Salamander. Whether it was "genuine" or a recent interpretation I did not know as I searched the internet for references but wasn't able to find any. Thanks to an entry in my guestbook by Yagahixs I now know that unfortunately this isn't a genuine design, at least not a Haida design. The first real Haida tattoo I had done was of a Beaver Totem. The Beaver ended up with red teeth, mistaking them for a tongue. OOPS!

Trying to look for new tattoo inspiration I turned to the internet. I found loads more examples of Haida and other Northwest Coast art and decided to have some more tattoos done in the same style. Again on my legs, this time a Bear and a Shark.
