Frogs - 18th November 2006

I've always liked frogs for some reason. Having found a nice design of a Frog, it was really only a question of where to put it. I decided on a nice "blank" place on my left calf. Frogs also have special meaning to the Haida.

They live in water as well on land, and are therefore attributed to having supernatural powers. Shamans and witches extract various magic potions, medicines, and poisons from the skin of frogs. The frog is a symbol of prosperity, considered friendly as it is said he warns humans of imminent danger. Haida carved frogs on house poles to prevent them from
falling over.

This particular frog design is Kwakwaka'wakw.
