I started out with two kanji symbols on my back representing the word "tornado", this was before I had any Haida done. I am fascinated by the shere force of them and the fact that we cannot "tame" nature.
After the initial leg tattoos I decided it was time for a Haida (style) back piece. Just one image blown up did not appeal to me.
I found the hummingbirds and decided to place them around some flowers. Haida attribute the following meaning to the hummingbird: Love, Beauty & Intelligence & Spirit Messenger
